THE dress

So to day is the day. I am going to buy THE dress. The dress I will be married in! My mom, my sister & I are going to get a second look at the dress we loved on our 1st dress shopping adeventure. Every dress that I have tried on since then I have compared to this one. There has not been any that have come close to living up to how I remember it in my head.

This leads me to the fear I have. What if I've built this up in my head? What if this dress looks nothing like this image that I have created?

I took my future sister-in-law (I do love the sound of that) to get her opinion while she was in town. She loved it (or at least told me she did) so that eases my mind a little.

I guess the other worry I have is that I am not the girl who has dreamed about my wedding my whole life, I didn't have visions of how every detail would be planned or know the church where I would be married (or even if I was going to be married in a church for that matter). So while looking through bridal magazines & online at different wedding sites there were many dresses I like of every style & shape. I did not walk in to the dress shopping experience knowing what I wanted. I have always been the one who was willing to try on anything, no matter how unlikely it was that this would be the item (shirts, shoes, sunglasses, prom dresses, etc) that I would end up choosing. That is precisely how THE dress shopping was approached. And as a result I have ended up with a dress choice that I never would have chosen while looking through a magazine.

Hopefully, my fiance, Tony, will love the dress as much as I do!

The E-pics

So yesterday was the 10 month mark!! I cannot believe I am less than 10 months away from marrying my best friend.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. My newest delight on the Internet is the "Wedding Bee" a blog from various brides across the country recounting every detail having to do the the ceremony, the DIY projects, the drama & everything in between. I continuously see all these wonderful engagement pics on here. Is this something everyone does? No one has made mention of this or asked any details (like they have of every other aspect of the wedding.) Does everyone have a photo session to take engagement pics?

We have briefly mentioned having a session for our e-pics. I guess it we will dicuss it when we meet with our photographer next week. (YAY!!) We also have the second option (if we are indeed going to have pics taken) of having pics taken on the beach when we are on vacation in September.

This is where my eternally indecisive nature emerges. On one hand I think the beach would be beautiful. I think they would be pics that would remind us of a great time at one of our favorite places. We love the beach, we love vacations, we love to relax. However, I also think it would be nice to do take a more traditional approach to the session - interesting places around town, great architecture in the back ground or a scenic setting in a park. After all this is our home - where we work, play & live. There are lots of places that are special to us. And my family (before my future husband was a part of the family) had family portraits done on the beach a few years ago. My only concern is that our pics could turn out similar to those family portraits. I want these to be uniquely ours & represent us.

Maybe I'll give the deciding vote to my future husband so feels like he has some control in this wedding.

Unsure as always....

Hello World!!

There are a few reasons that I have decided to start blogging. A friend of mine has a great blog that I check quite often (some might say I'm a little stalkerish in regards to this.) No matter how ordinary or deeply personal the topic may be she is always insightful. My lovely friend even somehow seems to manage to make a trip to Red Box interesting. As I have read her posts I have come to realize someday I would like to look back upon this time in my life & remember the excitement I feel about what lies ahead. Which brings me to the next reason I wanted to start this blog. I will be getting married 310 in days. I know (or I should say I sincerely hope) that 40 plus years from now I can share this with my beloved & we will look back fondly on the humble beginnings of our life together.
